Phillip NoycePhillip Noyce is one of the finest film-makers to emerge from Australia. He was honoured at the 2017 AACTA Awards when he won the Longford Lyell Prize for career achievement in the Australian cinema. You can read his wonderful and very generous acceptance speech for the award if you click on this link on the Film Alert 101 blog

When Phil was contacted and asked about his favourites in the 2019 Cinema Reborn selection he messaged just three words MEMORIES OF UNDERDEVELOPMENT.

Tomas Gutierrez Alea’s film is regarded as the greatest Cuban film ever made and Rod Bishop has written comprehensive program notes about it which are published on the Cinema Reborn website
